In Chanchanji village in Takum local government Area of Taraba State, three victims were saved unharmed by the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army’s (SW) Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS).  ,
The incident occurred as Chanchangi community troops were conducting a routine patrol and picketing operation along the Takum–Chanchangi Road.  ,
The vigilant troops made contact with suspected armed bandits who had already abducted three people traveling in a vehicle as they approached the Uko community axis.
According to Captain Olubodunde Oni, the acting assistant director of army public relations at the 6 Brigade of the Nigeria Army, the kidnappers had to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding forest after being spotted by the soldiers. In a brief exchange of fire, the soldiers engaged the criminals, forcing them to retreat even further into the bush.

Alhaji Ali, the Sarki Pawa of Takum, and all three of the kidnapped victims, including Alhaji Ali, were all miraculously saved. At the scene of the incident, the vehicle was also found.  ,
The escaping criminals were able to get away with the car key and the victims’ two mobile phones, though.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, the commander of the Nigerian Army, commended the soldiers’ swift and decisive action. He urged the general public to continue to support the military by providing reliable information to support the ongoing fight against crime.
He reiterated that the Nigerian Army will continue to fight against criminal activity in Taraba State and its environs.
Agbu Kefas, the governor of Taraba State, has also condemned the state’s Karim Lamido Local Government Area’s attack on the Munga Lelau community, which claimed the lives of an undisclosed number of people.
