Leanne Quigley, the star of Traitors, admits during an exclusive shoot with OK that she has spent the past two years hell and back. That was the only highlight, winning the popular BBC One show last month and participating in it with Jake Brown. “We’ve had so many moments when our lives were ripped apart – the last two years have been horrific, aside from The Traitors”, says Leanne. We want to use every moment to its fullest.
After her feared twin boys were born prematurely and her fiancee Sophie, a healthy, active 32-year-old at the time, was diagnosed with a rapidly growing breast cancer last summer, the army veteran, 28, has come to terms with the couple’s relationship plans to tie the knot next summer. Sophie hopes to ‘ring the bell’ on March 5 after receiving the all-clear last month.

The big day won’t take place, they explain, until Sophie’s hair has grown back and she’s happy with it – then they’ll book a date straight away. “It will probably be next summer. I do not want a cold wedding”! laughs Leanne’s other half Sophie, who explains that, because the couple’s sons will still be still small, and Leanne’s younger sister is disabled and unable to travel far, it will likely be local. “We joked we could get married in The Traitors ‘ castle in the Highlands”!, says Leanne. “But like Sophie, I don’t really care as long as there’s family and good vibes”.
As for who may come along to their nuptials, she adds, “We’ll definitely invite the Traitors gang, and Claudia]Winkleman], of course! On that program, I made lasting friends. We don’t go a day without speaking. The WhatsApp group is never ending. Even so, Sophie and their partner relationships are excellent. She adds, “I’ll 100 per cent wear a white dress! And the twins will probably be our ring-bearers. They’ll be three and a half by then, and so cute”!

Sophie acknowledges that she’d always wanted to propose and that she actually planned to do so during a family vacation in Portugal this year, but that her devastation from last year led to her decision to do it sooner. “I’d no clue what was going to happen, so I thought, ‘ Let’s do it now. On Friday, I had my first chemo, booked a hotel in the Lakes the day before, booked a small boat, and “popped the question there.” Leanne recalls, “It turned the whole weekend around. Instead of just doom and doom, we had wedding planning to look forward to.
Exciting wedding preparation aside, the couple, who welcomed non-identical twins Hudson and Harley on January 2023, through IVF – with Sophie’s eggs and donor sperm – and hope to use some of Leanne’s prize money to try for another baby, say they are enjoying the simple things.
Enjoying family life in their cosy home in North Wales, which is a five-minute drive from the closest beach, half an hour from Snowdon, Leanne admits, “It’s so nice to feel normal again. Life’s not been normal for a long time” as Sophie adds, “We’re focusing on enjoying our future together as a family now. We feel unbreakable”.
