After beating Wolves to the deal, Tottenham have made a loan signing of Lens defender Kevin Danso with a purchase commitment.
Despite having a medical appointment in the Midlands, the 26-year-old made the decision to join Spurs.
Danso’s transfer incorporates the obligation to make it a permanent deal, which is worth £21m, with a five-year contract lined up in the summer.
The no4 shirt will be taken off by Austrian international Danso, who is expected to do so before Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-finales at Liverpool. The move is pending international clearance and a work permit being issued.
In addition to playing in the academies of Reading and MK Dons, Danso has also spent time with Southampton on loan during the 2019-20 season.
In the midst of a 10-player injury crisis, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has repeatedly requested assistance.
Spurs had been considering signing attacking players, but they have since switched to defensive targets as a result of Radu Dragusin’s knee injury against Elfsborg on Thursday.
Micky van de Ven has recently returned, but the Romanian center-back has already joined Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie on the injured list.
