The Mirror examines Tony Blair’s life nearly 20 years after he left Downing Street as he forges an unexpected political relationship with US President Donald Trump.

Tony Blair’s approval ratings dramatically decreased as a result of his support for President George W. Bush’s administration’s controversial foreign policies during his tenure at Number 10.

Now, many years after British soldiers fought and died in the wars of Afghanistan and Iraq, Blair is once again at the centre of one of the most pressing global conflicts of our time. It’s been revealed that the 72-year-old, once the hopeful young face of New Labour, will govern Gaza temporarily alongside President Donald Trump, in a new alliance few saw coming.

This development is a part of the President’s new plans to put an end to the ongoing conflict in Palestine.

Although Blair has a wealth of knowledge in the field of Middle Eastern affairs, the appointment has surprise him. The once-popular PM is viewed as a somewhat antagonistic figure and hasn’t been in the political limelight for a while.

What has Blair been up to since leaving Downing Street, and how has his life now fared?

a 35 million property empire

Back in 2019, the Mail Online reported that Blair’s property empire totalled £39million, made up of 39 homes and flats across the country, from London to Manchester. This includes a £8.5million townhouse in the capital’s exclusive Connaught Square, where he and his wife, Cherie Blair, made a home for themselves after leaving their most famous former address in 2007. As reported by Tatler in 2021, the Blairs paid ‘just’ £3.65 million for the plush property at the time.

This extraordinary portfolio includes a £10 million country home in Wotton Underwood, a charming Buckinghamshire village. The Blairs spent $ 4 million on their rural retreat, which again proved to be an investment.

Meanwhile, it is reported that only the Blairs’ adult children were said to be in possession of homes worth more than £12 million. In addition to the list’s more conventional properties, the list also included several apartments in the booming Manchester suburbs of Whalley Range, Urmston, and Stockport.

Staggering wealth

Blair, who allegedly had less than £20 million worth, downplayed reports of his wealth in an interview with The Telegraph in 2014. He retorted, “Reports of my wealth are wildly exaggerated.” I’m supposed to be worth £100 million, according to what I’ve read. Cherie inquires as to where it is. That is not the value of me. half of that a third of that a quarter of that A fifth of that. I could go on.

However, a publication’s investigation revealed that Blair’s personal wealth was worth more than £60 million the following year. This figure, which is roughly £45.4 million, is thought to be slightly lower by Celebrity Net Worth. Still significantly more than Blair had admitted.

After Downing Street, what career?

After stepping down as Prime Minister, Blair went on to take on a number of roles, including as an adviser to JP Morgan and Zurich International. He has previously served as a Quartet Middle East peace envoy. Since 2016, Blair has been executive chairman of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, which, according to the official website, helpsgovernments and leaders get things done” by “advising on strategy, policy and delivery.”
