President Bola Tinubu’s leadership is comparable to that of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding father, according to George Akume, SGF’s secretary, who praised the president’s “reform-driven governance” and decisions made since taking office in 2023.
Akume praised the president’s performance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit on Thursday, calling it visionary and transformative despite criticism from the public for policy choices and economic hardship.
We have seen “impactful decisions, strategic reforms, and a commitment to national development” in just two years.
The leadership of “Mr. President (Tinubu) reminds us of the legendary Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, the man who foresight, discipline, and tenacity transformed a small nation into a global model of prosperity and order. According to the SGF, this is the leadership style Nigeria enjoys today in President Bola Tinubu.
From 1959 to 1990, Kuan Yew served as the nation’s prime minister under the leadership of Kuan Yew, who is frequently referred to as the “father of contemporary Singapore.” He is credited with making Singapore one of the most prosperous and effective nations on the planet from a struggling port city.
His governance model, which is grounded in discipline, meritocracy, and long-term planning, has become a model for visionary leadership around the world.
Results, not mere promises
Akume also spoke about the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) expansion, claiming that Nigerians are forming the ruling party because of tangible outcomes and renewed interest rather than by making promises.
People are forming our party, the APC, because they are seeing tangible results, not just promises.
They see the bright future ahead, see purpose, and see mission and meaning. And to those who are still far away, I can assure you that our doors are wide open, he said.
I See Everything Turning Around For You In 2027, Akpabio Tells Tinubu.
Akume cited the APC’s successes and inclusive ideology as the reason for the recent defections from opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
He urged party members to work together and commit themselves as soon as possible in advance of the 2027 general elections.
Because nation-building is a collective task, he said, “The APC is a movement of progress and inclusiveness.” Everyone has a role to play, and we welcome more Nigerians who accept our ideas and inspirations.
Now is the time to put forth even more effort as we approach 2027. By promoting the achievements of the APC under Mr. President’s leadership, he is now beginning to mobilize, not just to campaign, but to mobilize as well. We do this by acting as ambassadors of peace, discipline, and national unity.
In order to bring the party together, Akume urged cooperation to advance the country to its conclusion.
He urged the party members to “encourage collaboration and cooperation, promote peace and unity, and put Nigeria on the verge of greatness.” With your continued support, the APC will continue to be a party and a vision, with ample support for it.
