Tinubu Appoints Ogunjimi As Accountant-General Of Federation

Following a rigorous selection process, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Shamsedeen Ogunjimi to the position of new Accountant General.

Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, stated in a statement that his appointment, which was approved on Tuesday, will take effect on March 7, 2025, the same day that Oluwatoyin Madehin will retire.

Ogunjimi, 57, was appointed Madehin’s replacement in December of last year.

A selection panel later chose him after a competitive, rigorous, and merit-based selection process involving Federal Civil Service directors. The committee conducted the evaluation in three stages: an oral interview, an ICT proficiency test, and a written assessment.

The statement read in part, “The selection process highlights President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting transparency, excellence, and competence in key public service positions.”
