The Greatest Showman musical in major plot twist involving Zendaya’s character

The Greatest Showman has been adapted for stage, and it includes some intriguing plot twists from the film version.

Hugh Jackman’s performance in the smash movie, which explored P T Barnum’s life as a circus entertainer, earned $435 million worldwide. And executives have revealed that some characters will have beefed up roles despite the story staying essentially the same.

One of the names receiving more attention is Charity, Barnum’s wife, who Michelle Williams portrayed in the movie. Additionally, Anne Wheeler, who plays a trapeze artist hired by PT Barnum and sings in Rewrite the Stars, will receive a significant role.

The executive producer of Disney Theatrical Group, Anne Quart, tells Deadline that Charity was “married to a complicated man who is a visionary but also can’t afford the rent.” And how nuanced is that, exactly? ”

Additionally, Quart claims that Zendaya’s character “has a real story and a place to go.” Although casting is in full swing, Jackman won’t be reprising his screen role as Barnum. Rebecca Ferguson and Zac Efron also appeared in the movie. It’s highly unlikely that they, along with Zendaya, will return for the stage version.

The musical will make its world premiere in 2015, and it will feature both new music and classics like the Golden Globe-winning “This Is Me.” The Bristol Hippodrome will host the show starting in spring 2026.

Michael Gracey, the director of the musical movie, later created the most recent Robbie Williams biopic. The soundtrack rose to the top of the charts in 2018 and the year’s first album to surpass all previous records.
