Selena Gomez, Ben Stiller, Lily Rose Depp, and Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn are just a few of the celebrities who will be presenting at the Oscars at the Academy Awards.
Some fans find it hypocritical to be informed that Joe will be a part of the world’s biggest awards show’s host lineup. Taylor and Joe reportedly called it quits over “differences in their personalities” after meeting at the 2016 MET Gala. At the time, a source revealed: “They’ve had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together”.
As reported by PA Media, he opened up about their split, telling the Sunday Times Style Magazine at the time that it’s “unusual and abnormal” for a break-up to “suddenly” be publicised within days and for the world to then be able to “weigh in” on it. He said it was “speculated on”, “dissected” and “pulled out of shape beyond recognition”.
He said that both him and Taylor “decided to keep the more private details” of their relationship “private”, adding that it was “never something to commodify”.
Now, Swifties have used Joe’s previous statement about his and Taylor’s split against him, with one fan writing: “Who??? I thought he didn’t like being centre of attention”. Another continued, “I’m not even publicly complaining about him, but the general complaint was that he was acting so “above” the public eye and appeared to be putting Taylor in harm’s way because he was private and unappreciative, but the couple’s split up magically are everywhere.”
However, this was quickly met with accusations of overly parasocial behaviour by other commenters: “Maybe it’s time to move on. You are not close friends with any of the adults involved in this relationship. It’s so crazy to be acting like this”.
Taylor’s fans have long sought after the megastar’s former lovers. Jake Gyllenhaal made an open letter to Taylor about the cyberbullying he experienced after watching his 10-minute version of All Too Well, a breakup anthem, being assumed to be his.

Prior to the release of her album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which included several songs about her former partners, the global singer was forced to publicly demand that her fans stop defending her against her exes in 2023.
Travis Kelce, a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Taylor has since started dating. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles were the defending champions on February 9, but sadly, they were unable to win, falling 40-22 to the Eagles, which was reportedly “upsetting for everyone”. However, even despite the setback, the couple are still firmly focused on where the future will take them.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, a source told the publication: “Their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating. Things seem great between them, and they’re incredibly happy together”.
