After receiving a 24-hour emergency, Denise Welch has admitted to being aware of her recent diagnosis. The 66-year-old Loose Women actress was almost two weeks after taking a dream vacation to the Caribbean when she was taken to the hospital.

She was given a drip and diagnosed with two contagious conditions that could potentially be fatal. She stated on the program, “I just returned from a wonderful vacation in the Caribbean last Saturday.” All bronze, looking forward to showing off my sun tan, returning home, and all of this while last week.

She revealed that I had perforated diverticulitis, which she described as acute peritonitis, and that I was taken to the hospital on Saturday. So, I’ve been receiving a drip for a week! Please excuse me. Anyway, they were given antibiotics and no surgery, so I’m sorry.

According to the NHS, acute peritonitis is an infection of the stomach’s inner lining, which includes organs like the liver, kidneys, and bowels. This typically results from an appendix, stomach ulcer, or, as in Denise’s case, diverticulitis complications.

A perforated diverticulum specifically refers to a bowel wall tear that, if left untreated, can be fatal. According to NNHS Inform, an infected diverticulum (pouch in your colon) can split in rare cases, causing a perforation in the lining of your abdomen.

Peritonitis is an infection of the abdomen’s lining. It can lead to life-threatening pneumonia that needs to be treated with antibiotics right away. Additionally, a colostomy may be required, and a procedure may be required to remove any excess pus.

Peritonitis can cause persistent stomach pain, a high fever, heartbeats, rapid heartbeat, and unusual urination patterns. Additionally, some patients report nausea, a swollen stomach, and a lack of appetite.

Anyone who notices these symptoms should seek medical attention right away. If the infection spreads, it can cause critical complications like sepsis. According to NHS advice, “You will need hospital treatment to get rid of the infection if you are diagnosed with peritonitis.”

“Treatment typically involves injecting antibiotics (intravenously) into a vein.” Your doctor may suggest a different method of dialysis if you regularly have kidney transplants until the peritonitis has been treated.

“… Peritonitis can make food difficult to digest. Keyhole surgery may be used to insert a feeding tube inside your stomach or through your nose. In the event that a feeding tube is insufficient, liquid nutrients can be injected directly into your veins.

The actor is undoubtedly appreciative of being on the mend now, and he even made jokes about it (Mike Marsland/WireImage).

Denise took a moment to highlight another particularly negative aspect of her hospital stay despite her assurances that she received good care from the doctors. I was taken to a hospital immediately. She said, “I was alright, but I spent 24 hours in A& E.”

They kept saying, “There’s no bed for you, but they were looking after me,” and they continued to say that. I was requested to be on the operating room. There is no bed, there is no bed, there is no bed, they said. I was in bed in 15 minutes after someone spotted me and called the press.

The star, however, expressed gratitude for being now and even made jokes about the ordeal. I’m eating, and I’m a loose woman, so don’t believe what’s happening downstairs. She quipped.
