Following his successful tenure as caretaker manager, Swansea City are set to appoint Alan Sheehan as their permanent head coach.
Sheehan, 38, has impressed since taking over in February, when Luke Williams left.
When Williams left the club after a run of seven defeats in nine Championship games, Swansea was concerned about relegation.
However, Sheehan’s men are now certain to finish in the top half of the table, having earned 23 points from the Irishman’s 12 games in charge.
He has always been enthusiastic about taking the position for a long time, but he has repeatedly stressed that the club’s goals must be in line with his ideas.
Sheehan, a former Luton Town and Southampton coach, recently took over as Swansea’s assistant head coach.
Sheehan first assumed the role of caretaker boss in December 2023 when he helped Swansea collect 11 points from seven games prior to Williams’ appointment in January of last year. Heehan initially worked for Michael Duff’s backroom staff.
Sheehan made a second appearance in the top job after Williams said his farewells before making a second one.
Swansea were 17th at the time, eight points clear of the bottom three, but they have since turned in a remarkable form to climb to 11th.
