Good Morning Britain presenter Ross King has revealed how he was stunned when he saw his Strictly Come Dancing contract before joining this year’s line-up.

Prior to each series kicking off, celebrities undergo rigorous preparation in the days and weeks leading up to September’s launch, but Ross confessed he was shocked to uncover one particular detail in the timetable.

Discussing his forthcoming stint on this year’s series of the BBC programme, he unveiled a lesser-known clause in his agreement, revealing on the How To Be 60 with Kaye Adams podcast: “I mean, it’s really weird when they give you the contract and then it says minimum of four hours’ training, maximum of eight.”

While outlining how he has been perfecting his dance moves in preparation for the programme, Ross also detailed how he has been attempting to boost his fitness: “I’ve started training, you know, trying to get fitter, doing lots of walks, getting in the gym a little bit, swimming a little bit.”

Nevertheless, while Ross highlighted one element of his Strictly contract, he isn’t the first Good Morning Britain star to test their dancing prowess on the BBC show.

Kate Garraway participated in 2007, Charlotte Hawkins a decade later, and Ranvir Singh reached the semi-final in 2020.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 20 September), Ross will be among numerous fellow celebrities as the newest series of the dancing contest gets underway.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing includes Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Balvinder Sopal, George Clarke, Karen Carney, La Voix, Vicky Pattison, Chris Robshaw, Ellie Goldstein, Thomas Skinner, Lewis Cope, Stefan Dennis, and Ross.
