Stephen Mulhern, the former Dancing On Ice presenter, has suffered yet another professional setback after ending his lucrative contract with Butlin’s, a well-known British holiday company.

Stephen Mulhern’s lucrative contract with Butlin’s has been terminated, cappeding a star’s bad luck spiral. The presenter, 48, had reportedly earned £1 million as the face of the family-friendly holiday resort chain in the UK.

However, the star’s magic has now expired, and according to reports, his contract is not going to be renewed. At the renowned holiday chain, Stephen had a successful beginning in his Redcooat career. And as part of his now-defunct deal, he also performed on stage at venues in Minehead, Bognor Regis, and Skegness.

According to a report, the ITV star’s contract will not be renewed and he will no longer work after the summer is over. The star’s representative confirmed that the partnership between the brand and the TV star had ended.

However, they added that host had enjoyed his time working with the chain. The spokesperson told The Mirror: “Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin’s family – performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin’s remains hugely positive.

Stephen is extremely excited about this change, which will allow him to look into new opportunities for family vacations. Stephen has been a wonderful part of the Butlin family, according to a Butlin’s spokesperson, and he is still a valued member. After three fantastic years, Stephen’s much-loved live performance won’t be playing in 2026, but we’re thrilled to be teaming up for more ambitious projects this fall.

A source told The Sun that Stephen had lost his job, and that “Stephen has been a huge hit with holidaymakers.” He made a brilliant living as a Redcoat when he first started his career.

However, this is just the latest incident in a line of bad news for Stephen – both professionally and personally. The long-running ITV winter sport reality show Dancing On Ice was axed earlier this year – with the show being cancelled after ratings tanked after he came on board to co-host it alongside Holly Willoughby in 2024.

Stephen replaced Phillip Schofield who saw his contract with ITV go up in flames in 2023 after he admitted having an office affair behind-the-scenes of This Morning with a much younger employee and then lying about it.

After six seasons, Stephen’s other television series, In For a Penny, was canceled, but it was speculated that the program might be revived later.

Don’t put your money down yet, as a source previously advised The Sun: “We could be opening up in your neighborhood town to challenge even more people to participate in our special and madcap games in the future.

Fans of Stephen were concerned last year when he collapsed in a Pizza Express after having surgery for a health condition. When his father passed away last year, he also experienced a heart wrenching bereavement.

Following his Royal Variety Performance in December, Stephen paid homage to his late father in a moving moment. He said, “That was for you dad,” as the audience applauded his magic tricks.

In happier news, Stephen continues to host some of his other TV shows, including Deal or No Deal, which was revived in 2023.
