Canada vs. New Zealand in the women’s rugby world cup semi-final

Bristol’s Ashton Gate Date: Friday, September Kick-off: 1:00 BST

Jorja Miller, the defending champions of the Rugby World Cup, will miss Friday night’s semi-final against Canada in Bristol, where the star flanker will be.

The 21-year-old impressed with her all-court approach and converted from Sevens to earn selection for the Black Ferns’ title defense.

She left early in the second half of her team’s 46-17 quarter-final victory over South Africa in Exeter after complaining that her leg was hurt.

In one of the four starting lineup changes, Kennedy Tukuafu replaces Miller, who co-captained the team that won the World Cup on home soil three years ago.

In response to their impressive 46-5 victory over Australia in the final eight, Canada head coach Kevin Rouet has designated an entirely unchanged matchday 23.

Karen Paquin, who scored the final seven tries for Saracens against the Wallaroos, will now win her 50th cap, while Sophie de Goede, who is second row at Saracens, leads the side.

In their most recent meeting four months ago, Canada defeated New Zealand for the first time in their history, winning 22-19 in Christchurch. Following that win, Canada followed up with a 27-27 draw.

“We have consistently demonstrated over the past two years that we are one of the best teams in the world,” Rouet said. We have every reason to believe we can win this game, he said.
