For her upcoming film project, the Bridesmaids star has assembled an A-list supergroup.

Spice Girl Melanie C, All Saints’ Shaznay Lewis and Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts will join forces with a Hollywood star to create the girlband of dreams. Rebel Wilson is behind a new film which sees them form a supergroup.

It will also feature telly favourite Sheridan Smith, who most recently starred in ITV true crime drama I Fought The Law. The five-piece will become band Girlfriends for a new blockbuster movie.

She will play a pop diva who has been expelled from her own group’s reunion tour before being ordered by the courts to perform community service in the film, which Bridesmaids star Rebel is producing. Her character then plots a comeback by leading a group of illiterate teen girls in a big audition for a prestigious record label before leading a successful comeback.

However, it doesn’t go as planned in a typical movie way. She is forced to confront both the toxic music industry’s problems and her own problems by pushing them too far.

The comedy, which is called “Girl Group,” is currently shooting in the UK, according to Deadline. Rebel calls it the “ultimate girl power film.” She continued, “I’ve always wanted to make something similar since I’ve been a part of the Pitch Perfect franchise.” The Girl Group is “just so fun and full of spirit that you can’t help but beg for the dance floor”

Rebel hopes that this project will be more smoothly than her first direction experience. The Deb, which first appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, hasn’t yet been made public due to the ongoing legal battle between the Australian star and the British producers.

Rebel’s in Sky’s Original Cinema’s Christmas film Tinsel Town later this year alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Danny Dyer. Sutherland plays Bradley Mack, a failed Hollywood action star who ends up in a small, snow-dusted village to star in the town’s eccentric production of Cinderella. Here, he encounters a colourful cast of oddball locals who slowly come to hold a special place in his heart, including no-nonsense choreographer Jill (Wilson).

Rebel lived out her pop star dreams on stage at Reading Festival this summer, when she joined The Kooks on stage. Fans went wild when Rebel made a surprise appearance and performed with the band.

She joked to the audience, “What’s up Reading? ” as she approached the microphone in a rapturous scream. I don’t know about you guys, but I was considering Gangsta’s Paradise because I’m out here. Before unleashing an uncanny rendition of the Coolio hit, Rebel seamlessly raps every verse as the band members looked at each other in fake confusion.
