Beauty editor Laura Mulley consults experts on what will truly enhance the appearance of jowls, jaws, and crepey necks as Skims’ most recent launch, shapewear for the face, goes viral.
The Kardashians’ recent appearance in the media was no surprise, and it was primarily due to Kim Kardashian’s clothing line Skims’ recent launch.
The multi-million dollar business has just introduced a neck and jaw support product based on the same compression material used in Skims’ well-known shapewear, “face wrap.” Many people rolled their eyes as soon as the film was released, and some even wondered if this was a late April Fool’s joke despite selling out right away.
According to Skimmers, the Face Wrap has “strong, targeted compression for shaping and sculpting,” as well as “collagen yarns for ultra-soft jaw support.” Will this actually aid in facial contouring, though? The experts disagree.
‘Here is what I will be buying after a first look inside Sephora’s newest UK store.
This laser, which I tried, gave Lindsay Lohan’s glass skin for the Freaky Friday 2 premiere, and I can attest to it.
According to consultant plastic and aesthetics surgeon Dr. Leonard Josipovic, “Facial shapewear like Skims only offers superficial compression.” It has no impact on body fat, muscle mass, or laxity of the skin, which are all essential for double chin reduction and jawline definition. ”
I’ve been looking for products and treatments that actually work if you’re trying to get rid of jowls, saggy jaws, and double chins.
For me, it’s my lower face, which is one of our beauty bugbears. I’m not naturally blessed with a razor-sharp jawline or cute chin, but I’ve had several breakouts recently, including one that caused me to retract turtle-like into the biggest roll-neck jumpers I can find, and it’s now starting to look like I’m getting old. With hashtags like “masseter botox” and “snatched jawline” becoming increasingly popular, I’m not the only one.
I’ve tried a lot of ineffective things over the years, much to the delight of my coworkers, from skim-to-simulator fat-dissolving injections that made my face bulge. So I emailed the experts for their top beauty remedies for the common chin, jawline, or neck aches.
Best 2025 treatments for the jawline and neck
For skin that is crepey
Treatment: Cream for the neck
Experts advise using a particular neck cream, though it might seem excessive. The neck skin is thinner and less prone to sebaceous, making it more reactive. This ageing process is caused by the fact that we frequently move our necks,” says Illuminate Skin Clinic founder Sophie Shotter, an aesthetic doctor. Look for antioxidants, retinol (in lower percentages), and peptide-containing ingredients. One of her favorites is PRAI Beauty Ageless Throat &;, while Revision Skincare Nectifirm Advanced, £170, is. Decolletage Creme, £31. The best-selling neck cream at Boots is 99.
I recently tested out Boost Lab’s £24. Edelweiss Neck Firming Serum. I used Edelweiss Neck Firming Serum for three weeks after feeling dry, rough, and crepey, and it felt smoother, softer, and stronger despite not miracle-solving.
Skin sagging
Treatment: ULTRAcel Q+
Nyla Raja, a cosmetic dermatologist and founder of Dr. Nyla Medispa, describes Ultracel Q+ as a means of addressing and improving sagging skin, particularly in the jowls, chin, and jawline. It induces collagen production by triggering the body’s natural healing process through carefully selected micro-injuries, which have the effect of tightening skin. It works well as a standalone treatment for mild skin sagging. ”
A word of caution: I’ve tried it, and it’s uncomfortable (think of how a powerful elastic band is repeatedly pressed against your face). However, some users have reported seeing improvements after just one session, which can last for an impressive two years.
For “tech neck” lines
Treatment: Profhilo
The horizontal creases on the neck and throat are typically brought on by years of staring at phones and other devices, known as “tech neck” or “necklace” lines. According to aesthetic doctor and founder Nina Bal, who runs her London-based Facial Sculpting business, fillers can be used to smooth them out, but this requires a cunning approach to avoid an unnatural appearance. However, because it promotes collagen and elastin production, promotes skin elasticity, and promotes deep hydration, and is an excellent treatment for tech neck lines, “Profhilo [a hyaluronic acid-based injectable skin booster] is an excellent treatment for tech neck lines. ”
For jowls
Treatment: In-clinic treatments and micro-current tools
When I use my £379 ZIIP Halo microcurrent tool in the mornings, I notice noticeable, albeit subtly and quickly-lasting, lifting and sculpting results. This is not a long-term solution, though.
Dr. Shotter claims that the facial fat pads that are lost in the jaws are also the cause of the phenomenon, which is “jaunls” because they are about much more than just skin. Consider advanced options like dermal fillers to restore facial volume, Sofwave ultrasound therapy to tighten overlying skin, and enzymatic fat dissolution if you want long-lasting effects. ”
For imperfections
Treatment: Skincare products and supplements
According to Dr. Shotter, who advises supplementation, thorough cleaning, and regular use of acids, this can be the cause of the most frequent breakouts in this area caused by hormonal imbalances, as well as ingrown hairs, perioral dermatitis, and simple congestion. I switched out my powerful BHA exfoliant for a gentler PHA supplement (Medik8 Press &), and I started taking zinc and green tea supplements. I’ve noticed a difference in my stubborn spots after using the Glow Daily Exfoliating PHA Tonic (£9). Additionally, I like the £63 stick-on device known as the Lustre ClearSkin Solo, which shines blue LED light directly to specific areas to kill bacteria.
for a sharp jaw
Botox treatment
Botox injections can reduce the volume in your jawlines brought on by overactive masseter muscles. Additionally, this treatment is becoming more and more popular as a way to lessen jaw and tooth grinding discomfort. Your biceps wouldn’t immediately shrink, as opposed to your biceps would if you stopped working out at the gym, says Dr. Shotter. However, the muscles lose some muscle mass over time, which can result in softer faces. ”
And finally…
Are you interested in trying mouth taping, a popular method for closing your mouth shut while you sleep? There is no proof that it will lead to a more snagged jawline, despite the fact that it might help to lessen snoring. According to Dr. Shotter, “any face or mouth taping cannot cause long-lasting changes to the facial structure.”
