Silva’s son signs first pro contract with Chelsea

Isago Silva, the son of former Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, has signed his first professional deal with Chelsea, his father’s former club.

When their father moved to Stamford Bridge from Paris St-Germain in 2020, 17-year-old Isago Silva and his younger brother Iago Silva, both of whom are defenders, joined the Chelsea academy.

After winning the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup, and Club World Cup in 2021, Thiago Silva, now 41, left the Premier League team for Fluminense. Isago Silva has since continued to work for the Blues’ academy.

He made his debut for Chelsea Under-18s in the years 2024 and 2025 when he first joined the club at the age of 13.

Isago Silva has “becomed to be a versatile and reliable defender capable of operating at both left- and center-back,” according to Chelsea.

He has participated in the club’s U17 and U18 Premier League Cup campaigns this year.

Chelsea’s October home game against Ajax featured 33 academy players in their Champions League squad.
