Global leaders will gather for the summit to reflect on the progress made since the first UN Food Systems Summit in 2021 and reaffirm their commitments to creating resilient, equitable, and sustainable food systems by 2030.

On the day of the summit, the VP will also take part in other events that will highlight real-world examples of food systems transformation, foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, and foster cooperation and inspire collective action through creative expression and evidence-based solutions.

A ministerial roundtable on public finance, trade, and responsible investment, which will facilitate the transition, field trips, and networking events are one of the activities taking place on the summit’s sidelines.

The delegation’s top three goals were set forth by VP Shettima at a recent briefing by the Task Force on the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit: positioning Nigeria as a leader of thought on African food systems reform, leveraging international partnerships that are in line with domestic priorities, and advancing a private sector-led model for continental food transformation.
