Spanish champions Barcelona lost to Sevilla 4-1 on Sunday in a shock La Liga game, with Alexis Sanchez scoring for the visitors and Robert Lewandowski not receiving a penalty for the visitors.

Sevilla took the lead early on thanks to veteran Chilean winger Sanchez, who had already missed two excellent chances.
Before half-time, Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back for Barcelona, but Lewandowski’s best chance of equalizing was squandered when he fired wide from the spot.
In the final stages, Hansi Flick’s side suffered an unusually heavy defeat, and Sevilla won 2-1. Jose Carmona and Akor Adams completed the victory.

Although Sevilla has a weaker squad than their best years in the early part of this century, the hosts’ energy was sufficient to discredit Flick’s disorganized team.
A penalty was awarded as the striker gratefully hit the deck as Ronald Araujo awkwardly wrestled with Romero in the box.
The 36-year-old sent Wojciech Szczesny the wrong way, according to Sanchez.

The striker, however, was right the next time, opening up Barca again with a sweeping into the bottom corner from Ruben Vargas’ cutback.
Rashford forced a save from Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos at his near post as the first Barcelona player to wake up from their slumber.
In stoppage time, the England international regrouped and fired home Pedri Gonzalez’ cross for his first La Liga goal.
Lewandowski’s Penalty Woe
As Sevilla continued to take the lead, Szczesny made a good save with his legs to thwart Djibril Sow in the opening half.
The hosts’ nerves started to tingle at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan after winning just one league game before Barcelona’s visit in 2025.
Barca had a golden chance to equalize when Sevilla substitute Adnan Januzaj conceded a penalty for falling on Balde as he flew into the box.

After Lewandowski’s flick-on put him on the end, Roony Bardghji, a youngster, could have equalized, but he did so straight after the goalkeeper, and Rashford was also prepared to react if the winger had passed.
