Senate Summons NSA, NIA, DSS Boss Over Alleged Boko Haram Funding

Senate Summons NSA, NIA, DSS Boss Over Alleged Boko Haram Funding

The Senate has requested that the Director of DSS, Director of the National Intelligence Agency, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and National Security Advisor make an appearance before the Senate in response to USAID’s allegations that the agency had funded Boko Haram.

Following Senator Ali Ndume’s call for an immediate investigation into allegations that international organizations, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), may be funding terrorist organizations like Boko Haram, was put forth in response to the urgent need to investigate.

Legislators expressed concern during the plenary over a viral video of Pennsylvania’s Republican representative Scott Perry alleging that USAID has been funding terrorism in the past, including Boko Haram, during a congressional hearing.

Ndume pointed out that this assertion comes shortly after General Christopher Musa, the country’s chief of defenses, sparked concern that terrorist organizations were receiving training and sponsorship from international organizations.

The US Congressman accused the agency for international development (USAID) of funding international terrorist organizations like Islamic State and al-Qaeda, as well as their local affiliates Boko Haram in Nigeria, just days after the US Congressman made the accusation.

Perry claimed last week that the USAID’s $ 697 million annual budget, which includes cash shipments to madrasas (Islamic schools), had unintentionally funded terrorist training camps and extremist groups during the first session of an advisory body headed by Mr. Trump to cut US government spending.

The president has been accused by critics of trying to undermine the integrity of organizations like USAID and halt their operations because the lawmaker belongs to Trump’s Republican Party.
