In a one-sided autumn test, Scotland defeated the United States to record their biggest victory in Murrayfield’s 100-year history, with the help of Darcy Graham and Jamie Dobie scoring hat-tricks.

Duhan Van der Merwe led the team, scoring two tries in his 50th cap as Scotland dominated an underpowered and disjointed USA side.

Van der Merwe, Graham, and Dobie all crossed twice in a blistering 40 minutes as Dylan Richardson opened the scoring with a five-minute crash over.

After a few minutes into the second period, Graham scampered in to add a treble to his hat-trick, moving to level with Van der Merwe, and late on, Dobie, who had moved to the wing, was also able to score a treble.

In the second half, Kyle Rowe, Stafford McDowall, George Horne, and Ollie Smith each scored in a late burst against a shell-shocked USA team that gave Scotland an 85-point lead.

Dobie andamp; McConnell excel in blowout victories.

No one who visited Murrayfield anticipated a different outcome, despite the size of Scotland’s victory, which was their third-largest victory.

Due to the game being played outside of the Test window, some of the players on both sides lost out on the opportunity to shine.

After only a few club games, Edinburgh back row Liam McConnell was given his debut, and it was obvious how intense he was.

Van der Merwe’s first run and passing performance in a basketball game resulted in his second, and Graham’s lineout steal came to an end with Graham receiving Rowe’s wonderful pass.

“A few put the 23rd game against New Zealand in the hands of a few.”

Dobie also excelled in a typically hectic display, moving from scrum-half to the wing when Graham was replaced with his hat-trick.

Graham’s silky chip over the top made it possible for him to retrieve the ball and sprint under the posts while Graham’s clever support line made another profit from McDowall’s line break.

Rowe scored a second-half try first, but Dobie missed out on Van der Merwe’s pass to clinch the win.

Another entertaining sideshow features Graham and Van der Merwe continuing to compete for the title of Scotland’s all-time top try scorer.

Scotland know next week against the All Blacks will be a completely different level of Test match than against a USA team without players and with a club game in crisis, despite having every right to take away from a blistering performance.

What they said

With a brand-new team, the players were very cohesive, according to Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend, who immediately observed that this was difficult to achieve in a week of training.

We repeatedly asked for physicality and effort, and we did it for the majority of the game, both when the ball came in contact and when we had to defend. In the end, we were aggressive and disciplined.

“The players really put forth a lot of effort for one another.” There was a huge audience tonight, which is fantastic because they saw our strengths. We have undoubtedly some very talented members on our team.

Jamie Dobie, a Scotland back, says, “Fun is one of the words to describe that. We didn’t go off the script, which is why we scored 80 points because we followed the plan.

The most enjoyable aspect of keeping them scoreless is. Prior to the game, and even more so after halftime, it was a significant focus.
