After 17 years making his professional debut for the club, Saracens legend Alex Goode announced that he would retire at the end of the current season with “no regrets.”

The 37-year-old, who has won six Premiership titles, made 400 appearances for Sarries earlier this month.

In the second of those finals, he scored a try to help the team win the European Champions Cups in 2016, 2017, and 2019.

Goode also made 21 appearances for England, joining Stuart Lancaster’s World Cup squad in 2015.

Nothing can prepare you for this overwhelming moment, he told the club website.

Never in my wildest dreams did I believe I would have the honor of representing this club over 400 times and representing my country.

An unreal journey

Goode’s other accomplishments include being named 2019 European Player of the Year.

You are the heart of the club, according to him, and I can’t thank you enough for your time and effort. “I want to thank you to the coaches and all the backroom staff,” he said.

It’s been an unreal ride, and I’ll carry those memories and bonds with me forever, to my team-mates, past and present.

You have stood by us with unwavering faith through all of our glory and suffering. You’ll never understand how hearty roared on my 400th game to hear those expressions.

I leave the field in gratitude for everything I have done. My blood will always be saracens.

There are few words that can adequately describe the impact someone like Alex Goode has had on the game of rugby as a whole, according to director of rugby Mark McCall.

“He will undoubtedly go down as one of the most prosperous players in the professional era.”

Goodey will always be remembered as a great team player who gave everything in his power to support his teammates. His wisdom and guidance have been very helpful to our younger players.
