The bombing of a Tunisian town that escalated internationally, part of the history of colonialism in North Africa.
A small Tunisian town was the scene of a significant international incident that reverberated from North Africa to France, the US, and the UN for two months in 1958. During the Algerian War of Independence, France bombed Sakiet Sidi Youssef on February 8, 1958, to start the bombing. Sakiet is close to Algeria’s border with Tunisia. There were Algerian fighters who were refugees from the war, and there were also Algerian refugees crossing there.
