Ruth Langsford, the actress who stars in Loose Women, has revealed her favorite recipe and how-to.
Ruth Langsford has shared one of her go-to recipes, inspired by a dish from Slimming World specialists. The Loose Women host, 65, stressed that it’s not only bursting with taste but also straightforward to prepare, making it ideal for entertaining friends and family.
“One of my go-to recipes: Chicken Dhansak, from an old Slimming World clipping I’ve had tucked away for years,” Ruth wrote on Instagram earlier this year. “It’s quick, easy to throw together, and full of flavour. Proper comfort food. I love cooking for friends, and this one always goes down a treat.
“I loosely adhere to the original recipe, but I never do that.” More of a guide than a rulebook, it. Depending on what’s in the fridge, I just use my heart to make adjustments.
There are many recipes online you can use as a starting point if you want to try it. The best part is “Make it your own,” that is!
In order to begin her recipe, Ruth heated up a warmed pan with a little sunflower oil and lightly browned diced chicken breasts. The chicken was then moved to a fresh bowl and left to cool.
She then allowed the frozen chopped onions to cook for a while before adding them to the same pan so they could brown until golden. She also removed some frozen pineapple from the freezer and deseeded some green chillies.
“Right, so I’m going in with the garlic puree and a big splodge of ginger puree,” she continued, according to Gloucestershire Live. “Then you are cooking that off. So, we’re going in now with our spices – garam masala and curry powder. I don’t really measure things very often, I just cook.
“… and then just coat the chicken.” Add all the juice in that tin to the chopped tomatoes. The mixture also contained Knorr chicken stock, a whole tin of lentils, and the chillies.
She continued, “I’d say this will easily feed four people or two crouchy people, including me.” [Add] bay leaves with the lid on. Ruth brought the chopped pineapple in the pot to simmer the curry.
She continued while plating the curry with some rice as she continued, “Feeling is not just about looking fabulous.” I just love to cook for my friends, having great friends, and feeling good.
“But this is the Ruth version of Chicken Dhansak,” you may say. Fans of Ruth’s cooking demonstration were quick to share their thoughts, with many of them enticing to make their own dishes.
One viewer wrote at the time, “Thanks Ruth, I’m going to do this tomorrow for my wedding anniversary,” and another added, “Yummy.” attempting to. So reliant on cooking the same things.
Another remarked, “I would probably consume all of that myself.”
