  • Russian forces have established a bridgehead on the Ukrainian-held side of the front-line Oskil river in the east of the country, an official said, pointing to Kyiv’s mounting battlefield struggles. In some parts of the eastern Kharkiv region, the river serves as the de facto front line.

Weapons

  • An international coalition to procure unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for Ukraine, co-led by the United Kingdom and Latvia, will send 30, 000 newly ordered drones to Kyiv, the UK’s Ministry of Defence said.

Politics and diplomacy

Transport

  • The EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised non-European carriers to avoid entering western Russian airspace because of the possibility that its air defense systems will accidentally target them.
  • EASA cited the high risk in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane last month in Kazakhstan as a result of Russian air defenses’ fire on Ukrainian drones. At least 38 people died in the crash.
