Rod Stewart took his Legends slot on Sunday at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, and he appeared to give a sweet nod to his wife Penny just before the set began.
Sir Rod Stewart appeared to give a touching nod to his wife Penny Lancaster during his jam-packed entertained the swarm of festival goers set on Sunday. The 80-year-old rocker entertained the swarm of festival goers who assembled at the Pyramid Stage in the sweltering heat.
In the nearly 90-minutes-long set, Rod also chucked in some classics from other countries as he worked his way through his impressive back catalogue. And he added the timeless First Cut Is The Deepest to the beginning of his show.
Rod first released the song Cat Stephens on tape in 1976. And he did it again, which was fantastic entertainment for the audience.
However, it appeared to be him giving his wife of 18 years, Penny, a sweet nod, to eagle-eyed fans. Rod snarled and wryly smiled as he sang the line, “I still want you by my side.”
It comes after Penny had been seen earlier in the day posing with fans of the singer. The group posed for snaps with the former Loose Women panellist, 54, while wearing wigs to look like the iconic musician.
Rod also welcomed fellow music legends Lulu, Ronnie Wood, and Mick Hucknall to the stage in another emphatic setting. Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac was also paid a beautiful tribute. Rod Rodney performed one of her best songs while honoring the legendary musician who passed away in November 2022.
The veteran artist had a difficult time despite the impressive performance. He incorrectly announced her at a previous stage prior to LuLu joining him on stage. Guitarist Ronnie quickly made his way onto the stage as he introduced Ronnie Wood and then Lulu, but Lulu was unobservable.
As Ronnie grabbed his guitar and performed for the large crowd, the icon quickly retracts his remarks and said, “Oh Lulu is coming on in a bit.” Moments later, Lulu and Rod performed Hot Legs in a stunning white suit.
Another minor error occurred when Rod allegedly misjudged the timing of Maggie May’s hit song. The singer sang the enormous hit before it was too early, but fans weren’t frightened.
The enthralling crowd, which was crowded to the rafters, sang the crowd’s biggest song of the set.
Despite the slight errors, Rod’s performance was well received overall. One social media user on Twitter/X commented: “Like him or not. Rod Stewart has still got it!! He’s a showman, great entertainer, and can work a crowd. You go Rod! ! Big shout out to his Band. #bbc #RodStewart #uk”
Rod had to change outfit three times throughout the appearance to combat the scorching heat. He switched to a bright pink suit after beginning the set with a white shirt and a black jacket. After that, he made the decision to end his shift with an emerald green outfit to show his devotion to Celtics.
