Rihanna, a legendary musician, contested a special court appearance to show her support for her ex-boyfriend A$ Rocky.
The Fenty make-up mogul, who has two children with her long-term partner, was present in a courtroom on January 29 for the trial of Rocky, real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers. In 2021, the rapper is accused of shooting former collaborator ASAP Relli (real name Terell Ephron) near a Hollywood hotel.
Rihanna attended the courthouse in Los Angeles as the trial raged, and Mayers is facing two felonies for assault with a semi-automatic weapon.
Rihanna, 36, slipped into court for a third day about 30 minutes into the testimony and sat next to Rocky’s mother after coming in through a public entrance. She and Rocky shared a courtroom appearance after the lunch break. She left separately and climbed into an SUV outside the courthouse, saying “I’m good, thank you” when a reporter asked how she was holding up. On two previous visits, the mother of two had been brought in secretly.
Relli had testified that Rocky aimed his hand at him on a Hollywood street and that his hand had grazed, despite being questioned by the prosecution. His knuckles were torn off in a photo that included scrapes. He wasn’t seen for two days in New York before getting medical attention.
If Mayers is convicted, he could be facing up to 24 years in prison. A source recently mentioned Rihanna’s arrival on a previous date, saying that she and two security guards attempted to escort her to a side passageway outside of the court.
They continued, “She sneaked into the court in a secret elevator and never walked the main corridor,” according to The US Sun.
Rocky and Rihanna have two sons together: two-year-old RZA Athelston Mayers and one-year-old Riot Rose Mayers. In May 2021, Rocky, a native of New York City, confirmed that he and Rihanna were dating.
