Ricky Hatton and Claire Sweeney ‘split’ after finding love on ITV’s Dancing On Ice

After eight months of dating, Ricky Hatton and Claire Sweeney reportedly ended their relationship.

The fiery romance began earlier this year when boxing champion Ricky, 46, and soap queen Claire, 53, met while competing on ITV’s Dancing On Ice. However, it appears that the two were unable to leave their relationship and have since agreed to end it.

The pair’s hopes for continued friendship are reported to have failed, despite the fact that there have been rumors of possible lifestyle differences. Claire is twice divorced, having been married to Tony Hibbard from 2001 until 2007 and then Daniel Reilly from 2013 until 2015.

Although Ricky has never been married, he and Jennifer Dooley, 23, have a 11-year relationship and they are also the parents of boxer Campbell Hatton, who he shares with another ex-girlfriend, also known as Claire. On Sunday, details of Ricky’s breakup with Claire Sweeney were revealed.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Claire and Ricky remain good friends, there has been no fallout between them. They decided to end their romantic relationship and are now best friends. They had lots of common interests, but their way of life was very different. They both enjoyed their time together.

Offering some insight into the cause of the split, the source continued: “While Claire is one of the biggest stars on Coronation Street and is very career-gliding, Ricky’s more freewheeling and unpredictable. Ricky is already packing his belongings for a trip to Tenerife, where he feels more at home. Meanwhile, Claire’s putting her heart and soul into her career, leaving romance behind”.

According to the source, Claire is being “consoled by celebrity friends and fellow cast members.” Ricky and Claire’s representatives have been in contact with The Mirror for comment.

Ricky raved about Dancing On Ice and how it changed his life in June. He said: “I had a good laugh on the ice. I mean, after the first day, I was scared to death but I always love a challenge.
