The author and TV presenter claimed that the injustice would make him insane when he was falsely accused on the BBC show.
Richard Osman, a television host and author, has stated that he would only agree to be on Celebrity Traitors if producers gave him the chance to play a traitor rather than a faithful.
Richard, who celebrates his 55th birthday today (Friday, November 28), told The Chipping Forecast podcast he had been approached about joining the BBC programme which captivated viewers and saw Alan Carr, one of the traitors, emerge victorious.
When asked if Richard could participate in the upcoming series, Richard responded, “I said to them, they did ask, and I said I could only do it as a traitor.”
Explaining his reasoning, Richard said his decision stemmed from concerns about how he would react during the round table discussions when contestants attempt to identify each other’s roles, reports the Express.
Richard went on to say, “And the only reason I could do it as a traitor is that if someone accuses me of being a traitor and I am one of them, I don’t mind, of course, and I’ll fight for myself.”
I would lose my mind if someone came up to me and said, “I’m a faithful person who is a traitor.” Sincerely, I wouldn’t be able to deal with it in any way.
“I simply couldn’t because it would make me insane just by the injustice it caused.” They can’t guarantee that, so I don’t believe I could do it unless I could be a traitor.
Richard opened up about his personal life, including his successful career so far, while discussing his potential role in The Traitors universe.
The Thursday Murder Club host and presenter admitted to having feelings of fear at various points in his career, including during his time appearing on Pointless on The High Performance Podcast.
Richard recalled that hearing my first live audience was the first thing that made me really anxious.
The first time I ever heard the audience outside the studio was “I could hear it,” I said, “I hadn’t heard it when I had to go on and talk to them because I’ve sat in studios and heard a live audience a thousand times.”
When questioned about how he handled this fear, he said, “You have to live with it. There are two options, you must leave, according to the statement “there are two options here: feel that fear or go home.”
