With only a second to respond to a challenging question, the former This Morning host banked a sizable sum of money for charity on Celebrity Catchphrase.
Former This Morning star Richard Madeley wowed viewers when he managed to bank an eye-watering £10k on Celebrity Catchphrase in the very last second.
Richard joined host Stephen Mulhern and the other contestants, comedian Axel Black and radio star Sian Welby, to raise money for charity in a celeb special of Catchphrase.
Richard faced the final 60-second round, where he only had a minute to respond to questions about famous sayings after defeating both Axel and Sian.
Richard was able to deposit £2.5k and £5k in the first two rows while working his way up the Catchphrase ladder. The third row, which contains box number 11, was then taken over by him.

If answered correctly, Axel and Sian’s total from the round would double, as well as Richard’s total from the round. However, he only had five more seconds to go.
Richard chose the number 11, and he was shown a clip with the words “FEW” twice, both drawn with arms and legs. A similarly anthropomorphic “FAR” then appeared in their place.
Richard said, “Few and far between, with only a second left.” Without a second thought, Stephen yelled out that Richard had won $10,000. His total increased to £17.4k because he had previously banked £7.4k.
Axel and Sian’s jackpots also doubled, in accordance with box 11 rules. Axel took away £800, while Sian nabbed £6, 000. £24.2k was raised overall for charity.
The television presenter first made a name for himself on BBC Radio Carlisle aged 19. He moved to Granada Reports in the 1980s and met his wife Judy Finnigan there. With Judy, Richard hosted This Morning from 1988-2001.
The pair then left ITV’s morning show to do their own chat show on Channel 4, called Richard & Judy. The show ended in 2009. Richard has since been a relief presenter for Good Morning Britain.
He has been covering one of the show’s presenter spots for the past week, and on Thursday (16 October), he abruptly stopped a discussion about speeding offenses and admitted to having six points on his license after committing two.
I didn’t realize that one of the two carriageways had a 34 mph [zone] was one for traveling at four thirty in the morning. one for traveling at four in the morning at twenty-eight mph in a 20-mph zone. And I have to admit that I don’t mind getting fined because it seems a little unfair that I accidentally broke the law and received three points on a license as well.
