Real Madrid has sinceapologised for utilizing a photo of the unspectacular player in a video honoring Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.
Jota was accompanied by a video of Elche and Portugal’s Andre da Silva, 30, along with a video of the club’s regular assembly.
Jota, 28, his 25-year-old brother, who played football professionally for Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel, and Jota, both died in a car crash in July.
We regret this circumstance.
Silva, a striker for Elche who has played for Portugal 53 times, was Jota’s team-mate at Porto and also played for RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, and AC Milan.
On Sunday, his team will face Real in a La Liga game.
Prior to their Champions League game against Liverpool, representatives of the Madrid club, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and manager Xabi Alonso, placed a wreath in Jota’s memory at Anfield earlier in November.
