Marcus Rashford won’t be rushed into making a decision about his future, despite the fact that he thinks it’s unlikely that he will play for Manchester United once more under Ruben Amorim.

Rashford scored his fourth goal since joining Aston Villa on loan in February’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on Tuesday, his fourth since then.

At the end of the season, the striker’s loan agreement at Villa Park expires.

However, according to sources close to the player, there is no clear way for him to return to Old Trafford despite his United contract contract expiring in 2028 and Rashford’s potential return.

Amorim removed Rashford from the first team in December, but he did not make his matchday squad again despite the home defeat at Newcastle on December 30 when he was an unused substitute.

The 27-year-old will now have to be evaluated by United before signing him on another loan this summer.

Being able to identify one of United’s most highly paid players would be helpful because they are trying to balance their finances while reshaping a squad so it fits the preferred style of play of the former Sporting boss.

That is unlikely, though.

Rashford has ruled out moving to London, and ideally he would join a champions league club.

Rashford isn’t planning to talk about his future until the middle of June, according to sources close to the player.

In light of recent speculation about United’s interest in Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, it is understood that he has no interest in signing a swap deal.

Rashford’s potential suitors are more interested in him now than he was when he joined Villa on February 2.

Although his four goals in 17 games, including six assists, were not considered to be particularly prolific, he made a significant contribution to Villa.

Rashford was called back to the England squad after the incident, and Ollie Watkins’ frustration on the Villa substitutes bench remained.

After his excellent performance against Paris St-Germain last week, Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final encounter with Crystal Palace and a continuing battle for a Champions League spot are much more positive than United’s ongoing struggles.

There aren’t many clubs that could match Rashford’s salary because he is one of United’s highest earners.

However, United did provide a portion of his wages to help get Villa’s move through, and there is a perception that the Rashford camp will likely be interested in him over the summer, when he wants to weigh his options.

Unai Emery, the manager of Villa, has been cautious about discussing Rashford’s future at the club.

After Villa was defeated by City, Emery expressed his delight at his performance. He is very well performing, he said. His quick adaptation and his commitment to the process are both important to us and him.
