Rapper Ghetts appears in court as he’s charged with death by dangerous driving

Justin Clarke-Samuel, the real-life Ghetts, the Grime star, is facing a death penalty charge after an alleged hit-and-run resulted in his appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.

Ghetts, a rapper and Netflix star, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving and has appeared in court. Justin Clarke-Samuel, an award-winning grime singer, is accused of failing to stop after hitting a pedestrian in east London.

On October 18, around 11.33pm, Yubin Tamang, 20, was hit on Redbridge Lane, Ilford, according to Barkingside Magistrates’ Court. Prosecutors’ Varinder Hayre reported that officers had attended Ghetts’ address early on October 19.

The musician, 41, is still being held in custody, but he still showed up at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday while wearing a grey prison tracksuit. Initial charges against him included dangerous driving and causing serious harm.

After Mr. Tamang’s death on October 20 changed his indictment. Ghetts showed up in court today to confirm his name, birthdate, and address.

He was placed back in custody, and he will make his first court appearance on November 24. The rapper, who played Glastonbury last year, has a successful musical career.

Ghetts’ success extended to countries other than the United Kingdom, where he has also made international tours. He was also nominated for the BET Award for Best International Act: UK in 2008. His music has also been broadcast on national radio, including BBC Radio 1.

The musician won best male act at the Mobo Awards in 2021 and has millions of plays on the Spotify music streaming service. Additionally, he has received a prestigious Mercury Prize nomination.

Ghetts received the Mobo Pioneer Award last year for his significant contribution to black British culture. Since then, he has released five albums, the most recent of which was released in December of last year, with Rude Kid as his lead artist.
