Rams move play-off to Arizona amid LA wildfires

Due to California’s raging wildfires, the Los Angeles Rams’ NFL play-off game against the Minnesota Vikings has been moved to Arizona.

The game, set for 01: 00 GMT on Tuesday, had been due to be played at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, a city in the south west of Los Angeles.

After consultation with elected officials, clubs, and the players’ union, the National Football League moved the event to Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium.

Ten people have died in Los Angeles as a result of the wildfires, and hundreds of thousands have been evacuated from their homes throughout the state.

According to Rams coach Sean McVay, “It’s one of those deals that almost doesn’t feel real but definitely is real to the people who are affected.”

The NBA moved the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets’ game to Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles after the NBA postponed it on Thursday.

The Lakers were due to host the Hornets at 03: 30 GMT on Friday. The rescheduled game’s date will be announced later, according to the NBA.

JJ Redick, the Lakers ‘ head coach, lost his house in the fires on Thursday.

As they looked to “focus on what matters most to us today,” the Lakers said in a statement.

“We are thinking of all the people who have been impacted by this extraordinary circumstance.” And we extend our gratitude to those who respond first and those who unite when needed most. We’re with you, LA”.

Before the fire destroyed his Palisades home, three-time Olympian Gary Hall Jr. forced himself to leave.

The American, who escaped his home, lost his previous five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals during his career.

“I observed the popping of houses and the erupting flames. There were explosions. I didn’t have a lot of time”, Hall Jr told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“Sunset Boulevard was a complete logjam. People were fleeing their homes and leaving cars behind. They were instructed to do that by police. In her car, around the smoke, my girlfriend was suffocating.

” I did think about the medals. I couldn’t wait to get them.
