Alice Young has announced she’s moving on after six years working alongside hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Breakfast – but her replacement already announced the news
Heart Breakfast presenter Alice Young announced the shock news she’s leaving after six years, with the award-winning journalist moving on to pastures new. The broadcaster dropped the news on Instagram, while her replacement had already announced that they’d be taking over her spot.
Having worked alongside the likes of Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, the star has revealed she’s hanging up her mic to embark on a “new chapter”. She captioned a photo of herself beaming under the lights in the famous Heart studio, sending messages of thanks to her former employer.
She gushed: “Heart’s Alice Young, over and out. I’m stepping into a new chapter feeling grateful for so many wonderful memories and opportunities at Global and the chance to work with the best of the best along the way.

“Now it’s time for a few weeks off for wedding celebrations and to recharge my batteries after all the early alarm calls. And then? I can’t wait to share more on my next adventure very soon.”
She signed off the post with some enigmatic hashtags – #newchapter, #newadventures, and #career. Fans and colleagues of Alice’s inundated her with messages of support and praise.
Jenni Falconer wrote: “I will miss you in the building. But exciting things ahead including A WEDDING! big lovee.” While Jamie Theakston added: “Great shift, Alice x”
ITV News host, Faye Barker sent: “Good luck Alice and congrats on the wedding! Will miss seeing you on those early starts. Looking forward to hearing about what is next for you.”
Meanwhile, former LBC news reader Chris Golds beat her to it, announcing he’d be starting at Heart Breakfast. Name dropping his new colleagues Jamie and Amanda, Golds penned: “Some news of my own…
“I’m thrilled to say that I’ve got a new role at Global as Heart’s Breakfast News Presenter in London. I can’t believe it but I’ll be reading the news for Jamie and Amanda in the mornings – the UK’s biggest commercial breakfast show.
“Heart is such a special brand and I’ve had some amazing times there already over the years with the loveliest people. Can’t wait to get back to ‘turn up the feel good’.”
He added: “Thank you to everyone at Global for putting their trust in me but especially to @hollyjonesradio and @timjohnnews for all the support over the years – and getting me to this point. The people I work with every day in the newsroom really are the best.
“I have had the best time with the team on LBC News and had the most incredible opportunities, so I’m sad to leave but I’ll still pop up here and there. The rolling news bug never leaves you.”
Meanwhile, Amanda has admitted Heart FM producers threaten to cut her off if she says anything that needs to be censored. Although she describes presenting the show as “one of the best gigs” of her career, she admits the producers are “terrified” of her saying anything “too political”.
When asked how the producers feel when she speaks by The Sun’s TV Mag, Amanda replied: “Terrified.” She added: “We have a ‘dump’ button, which is like a 10-second delay. If I say anything that’s bad or too political, they can dump it and the airwaves just go silent and people simply think they might have just gone out of the signal for a minute.
“But it’s not been pressed too much. It’s been pressed more for our guests than me, to be fair, for people like Alan Carr and David Walliams.”
