According to current research, Queen Elizabeth II did not want Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to leave the royal family to start a new life in California, but the monarch was unable to stop the so-called “Megxit.”

Queen Elizabeth II tried desperately to stop “Megxit” – even saying to Meghan Markle: “You can go back to acting if you want to”.

But the 10-word offer was not enough to prevent Prince Harry and Meghan quitting royal duties for their new life in California in 2020. Harry, 40, is now American resident and has severed links with the royal family, the crown and the country.

His grandmother, with whom he shared a close bond, didn’t want Harry and Meghan to leave, according to Paul Burrell, a former servant of the royal family. He said: “There is no doubt in my mind that she didn’t want Harry and Meghan to leave. She did not want ‘Megxit’ as it was dubbed, as she knew they would be estranged from her world.

Meghan even received a message from The Queen saying, “You can go back to acting if you want to.” She offered to talk to Meghan whenever she encountered problems, and she agreed to bend the rules.

Meghan, 44, has appeared in numerous dramas over the years, including Castle, Fringe, and Suits. Prior to joining The Firm, she also appeared in roles in movies like Horrible Bosses.

Meghan and Harry decided to leave after the Queen took her on her first engagement to teach her the ropes and ensured she settled into royal life. However, things didn’t go as planned.

She (the Queen) wanted them to stay, according to Mr. Burrell, who was nearly 60 years his senior. Her Majesty and her grandson had lived in different parts of the world. How was Harry’s problems understood by the Queen? She wasn’t able to.

They did, however, have a special relationship, particularly because Harry was a bit of a joker. He didn’t always follow the rules. She disliked the Queen, but everyone around him was very stiff and starchy, despite how relaxed and funny he was.

Harry is set to visit the UK for the first time in nearly six months this week, as he has an awards’ ceremony in his diary. Speculation of a reunion with dad King Charles – and therefore a flirt with royal life again – is growing.

But in a piece for the Daily Mail today, Mr Burrell claims the picture looks bleak. He wrote: “Harry is now in an exile of his own making… It is such a shame because William and Harry with their wives were the ‘Fab Four’ and certainly for a time Harry and Meghan were ‘the golden couple’. They had everything.”
