Protection’s Siobhan Finneran’s secret ‘romance’ with Death in Paradise star

Siobhan Finneran, a star of the Happy Valley, makes her comeback appearance on Sunday with the new ITV police drama Protection. It is believed that she is dating someone whose hit detective show is airing on BBC One on Friday nights.
In the police drama, Siobhan plays DI Liz Nyles, a witness protection officer who protects victims who are hidden in safe houses after giving evidence against criminals. When a murder occurs at one of the safe houses, she becomes aware that one of her team may be leeching information, so she launches her own investigation as DCI Hannah Wheatley (Katherine Kelly) arrives to investigate possible unit corruption. She concentrates on her younger, married coworker, DS Paul Brandice (Barry Ward), with whom she has a secret relationship.
The actress, 58, who is best known for her roles as Clare in Happy Valley and Miss O’Brien in Downton Abbey, studied witness protection extensively in preparation for her part. I was familiar with the fundamentals of the series: people are moved to safe houses before being looked after. She claims that she wasn’t aware that those two people had a relationship of this kind. Looking back, I believe this was foolish because the witnesses had to feel at ease before telling the officer everything.

That being said, I don’t believe anyone is aware of it because it’s all being kept secret, as it should be. I am aware that the police force is a very distinct organization: all of their vehicles are leased to various private companies so that it is impossible to track people, and so on. I wouldn’t even consider doing it. What do you discuss with your neighbors when they cross the garden fence?
Siobhan maintains her private life as private as her on-screen persona. Siobhan and Emmerdale actor Mark Jordon welcomed two children, Poppy and Jordan, together in the late 1990s. In order to raise their lovely family, they both slowed down in their acting roles. However, in 2014, Mark and Laura Norton split up, and Mark, 57, they later wed.

Siobhan has been making headlines recently for her relationship with DI Mervin Wilson, played by Death In Paradise star Don Gilet. They’ve kept quiet about their quirk, but Siobhan even called Don “my fella” while talking to The Guardian during a natter at the TV Choice Awards last year.
A book of Rudi Hurzlmeier’s art, which was Don’s touching Christmas gift, served as evidence of their sincere collaboration. Siobhan couldn’t help but laugh at a peculiar piece of art that her boyfriend had unintended as a Christmas present. A bloke next to her in a shoe store has his hand on her bum, according to a photo taken of a nun gazing in the mirror. One of my Christmas gifts is a book of Hurzlmeier’s work, and I showed it to my fella, Don [Gilet].
The pair previously starred on ITV’s 2017 drama The Loch, with Siobhan playing DCI Lauren Quigley and Don playing psychological profiler Blake Albrighton.
Protection will be available on ITV1 on Sunday, March 16 at 9 p.m., with all subsequent ITVX episodes available.
