The Princess of Wales made her most recent appearance while rocking a chic knitted ensemble from a popular British brand, which included a touching nod to Princess Diana’s passing.

The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton kicked off the first of her festive royal engagements today as she welcomed the President of the Federal Republic of Germany and his wife Elke Büdenbender for their state visit. Princess Kate was joined by Prince William for the meeting, with the couple co-ordinating perfectly in blue and black outfits.

Whilst William opted for a classic black overcoat and blue tie, Princess Kate matched perfectly in an outfit that was full of hidden meanings. Her powdery blue wool coat hailed from Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, who famously designed her wedding dress, whilst her sapphire and diamond pendant earrings belonged to the late Princess Diana.

This surprisingly affordable bag has just been added to Zara Tindall’s fall accessory collection.

Kate adorned her coat with the Princess of Wales feather brooch, which is a historical accessory that was originally a wedding gift to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863. The brooch, which features three ostrich feathers crafted from diamonds and emeralds, has been worn by both Princess Diana and Queen Camilla in the past, and has now been passed down to Princess Kate when she took over the title of Princess of Wales.

To make sure she stayed warm in the chilly weather, Kate also wore a black knitted midi dress from British heritage brand Burberry, which is having a new resurgence of popularity right now. Whilst it’s always been known as a classic brand, its recent campaigns have seen Burberry come back to the forefront of luxury brands, proving Princess Kate knows exactly how to expertly balance classic and trending fashion.

You can purchase a custom version of Burberry’s Belted Check Wool Dress for £1760 for her exact dress. Kate appears to be wearing an as-yet-unavailable version with long sleeves to keep her warm in the cold December air, in contrast to the conventional sleeveless design.

If you want to incorporate Princess Kate’s style into your wardrobe, the high street has some other, more affordable options. The £119 &, Other Stories Pure Wool 2-In-1 Fine Knit Midaxi Dress is a great option at ASOS because it has a similar fitted waist, bodice, and flaring A-line midaxi skirt.
