Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Students, Arrest Three Suspects In Ebonyi

In the Ebonyi Local Government’s Ikwo Local Government area, two kidnapped students have been saved from harm by the police.

Following a wise report, which led the Ikwo police division’s officers to storm a finished building where the students were being held, the students were saved.

The Ebonyi State Police Command’s CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, the commissioner of police, made this disclosure on Wednesday while speaking to journalists at the state’s capital, Abakaliki, at the time.

She added that three suspects have been detained and are still being held by police as the investigations progress. She added that the victims have been saved and are not hurt.

The police boss noted that 52 suspects have already been charged in court as other suspects who will soon be arraigned are still being investigated while highlighting the accomplishments of the command. A total of 131 suspects were detained for various offences between July and mid-August 2025.

The Command also dug up several criminal hideouts across the state, removing six vehicles, 15 different firearms, and 50 rounds of ammunition of various calibres.

Being primarily agrarian, Ebonyi State frequently experiences land disputes and boundary disputes during the farming season, which are brought on by the struggle for arable land, according to CP Uche-Anya.

The Command has deployed early warning systems to quickly spot and resolve brewing disputes in order to address these issues. We have also chosen a non-kinetic strategy, working closely with interested parties to resolve disputes through peaceful negotiation rather than violence.

We are keeping tabs on flashpoints that have land and boundary issues, and the Command is keeping track of them while keeping an eye on the safety of our citizens.

Following the Ekoli Eda crisis, which led to the murder of one Udu Nnachi on September 7, 2025. Amarachi Ude, Idika Ama Okoro, and Sunday Ama Olughu, the suspects, were arrested after a lengthy investigation by SWAT-related operatives.

Acting on credible intelligence, members of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the hideout of hoodlums terrorizing Umuogodo-Akpu Ngbo, Ohaukwu local government area on July 28, 2025.

One AK-47 rifle, one Dakota vehicle, and a Lexus 330 SUV were recovered following the operation, which did not have a registration number.

Other notable accomplishments include the 14/08/2025 arrest of a crisis initiator in the Ihie/Ezza Ekembe local government area. Agboti Kingsley, the suspect, was hired by mercenaries to start a crisis in the Ekembe community and is currently assisting the police with pertinent information.
