Police Rescue Couple, Arrest Suspected Kidnapper In Ondo

In the Ita-Ogbolu community, in the state’s Akure North Local Government Area, operations of the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad have rescued a couple and taken a suspect kidnapper into custody.

Olusola Ayanlade, the command’s public relations officer, made this revelation on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital.

The operation began at around 0530hrs on November 26, 2025, when the Command learned that Mr. David and his wife, both of whom live in Akure, Ondo State, had been abducted in their farm hut along the Ondo–Ekiti border at Odeigede Camp. The police spokesperson explained how the operation was carried out.

The Commissioner of Police immediately ordered that all necessary operational resources be mobilized to ensure the victims’ safe rescue by reacting quickly to the information.

According to the PPRO, the Iju-Itaogbolu Division and the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS), which collaborated closely with vigilant community youth, advancing into the woods in search of the kidnappers.

The suspected kidnappers abandoned the victims as the pressure from the combined team increased, he claimed.

Ayanlade also made it known that the man had machete cuts but managed to escape with his wife, and that the operatives immediately saved them.

He added that some items were taken from him after one of the suspects was detained in a hut.

A sword, a broken bottle, and a Samsung Note 10 mobile phone are among them.

The suspect is currently being interrogated by the police, according to Ayanlade, and he has been recovered with all of his belongings.

The suspect has since been cooperating with investigators and providing useful information, assisting with ongoing efforts to find the fugitive accomplice(s).
