Police Recover Stolen Child Sold For ₦3.7m In Ondo

A missing four-year-old girl has been found by police in Ondo State, along with a child-trafficking syndicate that operates in Ondo, Delta, and Anambra States.

Sunday Kingsley of Alagbaka Extension, Akure, reported that his daughter Jesinta vanished while staying with her mother, Sunday Happiness, on February 3, 2025.

Olusola Ayanlade, a spokesman for the State Police Command, made this known in a statement released on Thursday and made available to journalists in Akure.

One Sunday Kingsley ‘m’ of Alagbaka Extension, Akure, reported that his 4-year-old daughter Jesinta Sunday, who was living with his wife, One Sunday Happiness ‘f’, had vanished on February 3rd, 2025.

“The investigation was discreetly moved to the State Command Headquarters’ Monitoring Unit.” The child’s mother, one Nneka Onah “f,” was placed in the custody of the child’s mother, along with Sunday Happiness “f,” at the Ondo Correctional Centre before being later granted bail.

Ayanlade revealed that one Sunday Kingsley, the complainant, reported to the police that the missing child had been spotted in Asaba, Delta State, on July 9, 2025.

He claimed right away that the Command’s Gender Desk Team immediately took the child back, successfully recovered her, and transported her back to Akure in safety.

Further details about the syndicate’s capture were made clear in the statement:

One 30-year-old Amaka Chukwuemeka’ f’ who admitted to having purchased the child for $3,700,000 (Three million, seven hundred thousand naira) was also detained during the operation.

She further revealed that one woman, one Mabel Esimai’f, 58 years old, who introduced her to another woman, one Chinaza Owoh’f, 38 years old, gave her the child’s birth certificate, enabling her to obtain forged documents in the process.

Mabel Esimai was arrested as a result of this discovery, which prompted further investigation. She made it clear during questioning that she had been given the child by one Chioma Okechukwu’f’, who was 37 years old, and had been given the instructions to find a buyer.

Adebowale Lawal, the police commissioner in Ondo state, praised the Gender Desk Team’s accomplishments. He further instructed the team to continue looking into the matter so that all collaborators are found guilty and the suspects are properly prosecuted.
