Police Probe Officer Over Controversial Arrest Of Lagos Bus Conductor

A controversial arrest that was made in a popular video has been the subject of an investigation by the Lagos State Police Command.

On Saturday, the incident took place in the Ikorodu region. In an attempt to arrest the bus conductor, a police officer was seen restraining him on video.

After the officer appeared to force the conductor, who was half-naked, into the footage, the footage attracted a lot of outcry.

In a statement released on Sunday, police public relations officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the investigation.

According to the pictures in the attached photos, the bus’s driver purposefully used it to obstruct traffic flow, preventing other road users from using the public way, and creating a traffic gridlock in Lagos State’s Ikorodu region, which caused the public to experience significant untold hardship.

The statement read in part as “it was during the process of arresting the conductor that he stripped himself in an attempt to evade arrest and flee from the scene.”

The officer has been identified and is being investigated, according to the Command, and the conductor has been contacted for a Monday interview with the Commissioner of Police, according to the Command.

The Police officer involved has been identified, and he is currently being looked into to determine the appropriateness of his actions in the incident, despite the conductor’s actions, which led to the confusion depicted in the video.

The conductor has also been contacted, and he will appear before the police commissioner on Monday for an interview. The investigation’s findings will be made public. The bus has been searched, and it is currently being held in custody for further investigation, according to the statement.

Residents were urged to keep abiding by the law, according to the police commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh. He urged the general public to report police officers’ violations of their rights.

The police reacted with a warning that the officer had to be “unnecessarily dramatized.”

Additionally, the organization urged the general public to abstain from unlawful arrests.
