The Kebbi State Police Command on Tuesday presented cheques worth ₦16, 945, 238.34 to families of 25 police officers who died in active service.
The gesture, carried out under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, was aimed at easing the burden of the bereaved households.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi state, Bello M. Sani, personally handed the cheques to the beneficiaries at a brief ceremony held at the Command Headquarters.
Sani described the initiative as a demonstration of the police leadership’s commitment to supporting families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

He noted that the 22nd indigenous police chief had consistently placed emphasis on improving the living conditions of serving and retired personnel, as well as their families.
The police commissioner urged the families to make prudent use of the funds, stressing that they should channel it towards the education and overall well-being of their children and dependents.
He pointed out that the late officers had given their lives in service to the country, and it was only fitting that their loved ones were supported.
“The sacrifices of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten”, CP Sani said. “This is not just financial support, it is a reminder that the Nigeria Police Force stands with the families of those who died in the line of duty”.
