A “vicious and notorious” criminal syndicate, which allegedly specializes in disguising itself as security operatives wearing fake security outfit uniforms, is being detained by the Lagos State Police Command, who is aged 46, as well as gang leader and alleged kingpin of a “vicious and notorious” criminal syndicate.
The suspect uses a Mercedes car jack that has been modified to look like a firearm to gain access to estates in Lagos, according to a statement from the deputy police public relations officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, for the command’s commissioner of police.
“The suspect and his gang used a modified Mercedes-Benz car jack, which looked like a firearm, to deceive unsuspecting estate security personnel by disguise acting as security operatives.”
They gained access to a number of residential estates under the false pretense of conducting security investigations. Once inside, the gang systematically vandalizes high-end vehicles like the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Highlander, Lexus 650, Mercedes-Benz, and other SUVs, removing crucial and expensive components like brainboxes, tapping glasses, wiring systems, side mirrors, and control devices.
The kingpin was arrested for corroborating the crime, and he is assisting the police, the statement read in part, adding that efforts are being made to bring in additional gang members for investigation and prosecution.

A Mercedes-Benz car jack and a face cap with the designation “Special Force” were recovered from the suspect, who dressed as a security operative.
“Efforts are still being made to apprehend other gang members and their accomplices.” The Command wishes to advise residents to be extremely watchful and cautious whenever they attempt to enter their estates as agents of any security agency, especially estate management and security guards.
The Command urged Lagos residents to work with the Police by calling the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in their area to verify any such security personnel’s authenticity before granting them access to their estates.
“These individuals should immediately be referred to the nearest police division when in doubt.”
Residents and estate management were advised to remain vigilant, work closely with their respective DPOs, and use the Command’s emergency numbers 08063299264, 09053872208, and 08087332678 for quick intervention by Lagos State Command Commissioner, CP Olohundare Jimoh.
