After spending 20 years together, Penny Lancaster claims that Rod Stewart still cares about her.
Penny Lancaster has lifted the lid on her relationship with husband Rod Stewart including the rows and romance of their 26 year relationship.
In the new interview Penny even says playfully: ‘I’m the oldest woman Rod’s ever slept with!”.
Recalling the very start of their relationship in 1999, she says singer Rod wooed her during a tour of Rod’s Victorian Pre-Raphaelite art collection at his home in Essex.
The rock star leant down for a lingering “upset kiss,” which she recalls in her new memoir, and Penny momentarily reclined on his four-poster bed.
She stated in a statement to Woman&, Home magazine, “It still functions today.” Because we’ve always done it the same way, turning around and kissing feels like it’s your first time getting a second chance.
Rod turned 80 this year, and Penny, who is now 54, is the same age he was when she began dating him at age 28, was already. After the singer’s breakup with his ex-wife Rachel Hunter, the pair first met in 1999. They later got married in June 2007.
She continued, “The thing I think of is the relationship’s longevity,” adding, “I’m the oldest woman Rod’s ever slept with, and that happened a long time ago. The oldest woman he’d ever slept with would have been 30 when I first met him. He’s now the oldest man I’ve ever slept with.
When asked if intimacy was still important, she responded, “Oh my goodness, it’s still important, just simple hugs and touches, and looking into each other’s eyes.”
Rod made allegations on social media that he and Penny were at odds with either living in the US or the UK in August of last year. He refuted the accusations and said, “Penny and I couldn’t be more in love with each other,” describing himself as a very lucky man.
Penny acknowledges that the pair do fight like any other old married couple, and that she struggles to keep up with her rock star husband, who always seems young and energetic on and off stage.
Rod and I argue about the typical stuff, Penny said. It’s typically overparenting. You spoil them too much, he says, “Let me bring your breakfast to your bed for you.” Then I could say, “You’re spoiling them if you say, “I’ll give you £20 if you can hit the crossbar with that ball.” There have always been times when we’ve battled those kinds of conflicts, but never have we felt unable to move forward.
Rod and I may have a disagreement, but Rod will always apologize and say to our sons, “Boys, it’s so important to say “I’m sorry”
It not only soothes your souls, but it also feeds the souls of everyone. That is a significant lesson.
She continued, “I can’t keep up with my husband; it’s hard to believe Rod’s 80! ” That would be acceptable in sevent. There is a lot more to give than that. He doesn’t speak the word “retirement.”
He’s not a “put my feet up” type of person, he says. I’ve always wanted to go here or do this, Rodney says.
and I say, “We can’t do that, darling, if you’re going to keep working this fast.”
He is constantly on. I had to take some extra time this year, including a week in the Caribbean to celebrate Roddy’s 80th birthday. We want to cherish this last moment, this last stage as the children get older.
Penny is busy herself having been a regular panellist on ITV’s Loose Women and works as a special constable for the City of London Police. She has also just finished her memoir Someone Like Me which is released later this month.
