Palestinians released by Israel show signs of torture, starvation

Shortly after Israel claimed Hamas had handed over four captives’ bodies, more than 600 Palestinians were released on Thursday. Two Palestinian women and 44 children have been delayed by Israel.
In the final stage of the Hamas-Israel ceasefire agreement, it was the final scheduled swap.
Due to the seriousness of their injuries, several Palestinians were taken to the Khan Younis, southern Gaza, by ambulance. Additionally, many Palestinians were transported to the West Bank and Egypt, respectively.
Alaa al-Bayari, a Palestinian released to Gaza City, told Al Jazeera that he witnessed “torture, beating, humiliation and everything you can imagine” while in Israeli prison. He met his one-year-old daughter for the first time.
“We were kept naked, water was thrown on us and then they used electricity” to torture, he said.
Yahya Shrida, a Palestinian prisoner who was released to Ramallah, described Israeli prisons as graveyards.
“We have been taken out of suffering. We appeared to have been dug out of our own graves, in fact. He told the Reuters news agency, “No prisoner has ever experienced their own release being delayed twice.”
The mountains can’t carry the situation that we have been in. It is very hard to explain, it is very hard to talk about what we have been through”.
According to Tareq Abu Azzoum, a journalist from Gaza, some Palestinians who came back from detention had their limbs severed, and others had suffered severe injuries as a result of Israeli torture.
According to Abu Azzoum, “Many family members have seen their loved ones cry out,” adding that those who have been released have confirmed they have witnessed some of the worst forms of torture used by the Israeli occupation forces.

After a number of years of incarceration, footage captured a reunion of a freed prisoner in Jenin’s West Bank city that showed him meeting his son Jabal for the first time.
The Red Cross previously provided the bodies of four captives to Israel.
Israel’s President Isaac Herzog said the bodies were identified as Ohad Yahalomi, Tsachi Idan, Itzik Elgarat, and Shlomo Mantzur.
The Palestinian organization reiterated in a statement that it was “full committed” to the ceasefire agreement and ready to engage in second-phase negotiations.
Additionally, it stated that Israeli authorities’ failed attempts to obstruct the release of prisoners, leaving them with the condition that they now have “no choice” but to start negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
