Pakistan suffer biggest T20 loss as New Zealand take 3-1 series lead

In the fourth Twenty20, New Zealand’s brutal pace attack carved up the Pakistani batsmen to record a crushing 115-run victory and win the series of five games 3-1.

In Mount Maunganui, the home side defeated ragged Pakistan for just 105 in the 17th over, posting a score of 220-6.

As Pakistan’s biggest T20 loss by runs against all nations, eclipsing a 95-run defeat against New Zealand in Wellington nine years ago, Jacob Duffy claimed 4-20 and Zak Foulkes 3-25.

In his first over, Duffy scored two scalps, both of which wicketkeeper Mitch Hay caught, reducing the visitors to 9-3 after two overs.

Hasan Nawaz was Duffy’s first victim in game three, which ended with a maiden century in Auckland, two days later.

Pakistan, who had a 56-8 record against Australia in 2012, was in danger of falling short of their lowest T20 international score of 74-8. However, Abdul Samad’s team managed to surpass that total and, at 91, surpass New Zealand’s lowest total with an unbeaten 44.

Irfan Khan, the only batter to score in double figures, had 24.

At the same Bay Oval venue, New Zealand won the second-most runs with 119 runs in the same series.

Finn Allen, who had just 20 balls earlier, put on 59 as New Zealand’s opening stand, while Tim Seifert, whose 44 deliveries totaled 44, completed the feat.

Seifert was the first batsman to be let down by seamer Haris Rauf, who made a 3-27 play.

While captain Michael Bracewell was nearly as effective at the death, blasting 46 not out of 26 balls, Allen struck six fours and three sixes.

Tim Seifert’s belting of the songs sometimes makes it difficult to find some rhythm, according to Allen, the match’s Player.

“It’s nice for me to sit at the other end and watch him leave before attempting to take over when he leaves.”

In previously unfavorable circumstances, the New Zealand pacers were able to maneuver the ball around. Ish Sodhi, one of the leg spinners, was particularly struck by the purchase.

Pakistan’s captain Ali Agha praised the bowling team for outplaying us, saying, “We have to give them credit.”

“It was also turning and swinging.” Although it did well in the second innings, the international team must perform better.
