In a joke about how his divorce from Christine McGuinness left him without money, Patrick McGuinness addressed the situation.

After being married for more than ten years, the comedian and the TV star, both 51 and 36, announced their divorce in 2022. They now have three children with them.

However, the former Top Gear host made endearing remarks during an Irish comedian’s podcast this week called “The 2 Johnnies.”

When Paddy inquired about how his new stand-up show was going, he responded, “It’s a different style of show, but I’ve just started the second leg and it’s been going really well.”

Just before I leave, I start to feel like asking, “F***, why are we doing this?” And then I remember that I had a divorce… Oh no, that’s why! I don’t have any money. But to be honest, it has been extremely successful.

The former Take Me Out star made a similar joke on stage last year at a Blackburn show last year, and the divorce joke caused a lot of laughter among the audience members. A source at the time claimed that The Sun Christine was “disappointed” and shocked” that he had made such a reference to her.

This week, Paddy joked about the separation of his ex-partner on the podcast.

She was shocked and horrified to be a laughing stock, the source continued, “She didn’t know Paddy was going to make her the butt of his jokes and was shocked that he did.”

Paddy explained to The 2 Johnnies how comedy had changed recently and how nervous he was when he was performing.

He said, “It has been about eight years since I last went on tour properly, and going back is very seductive when things are going well. And it gives off a lovely vibe.

“But the days are gone, with just you and a microphone.” Everything can be taken out of context in this day and age, as well as when I was last out there, this day and age, and you are racked with worry and everything else.

Paddy and Christine got married in 2011, but they later made joint statements on Instagram about their breakup. They stated, “At some point, we made the difficult choice to separate, but our main goal is always to continue supporting and loving our children.”

They continued, “We’re going to be the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children, though this wasn’t an easy decision.” We’ll always be a loving family, and we’ll still live happily together in our shared home.
