Less than two weeks before his passing, Ozzy Osbourne was pictured at Comic Con Midlands for what is thought to be one of his final appearances. He made friends with attendees of the Birmingham convention earlier this month.
Ozzy passed away this morning, just weeks after his farewell concert with Black Sabbath earlier this month, according to information announced tonight. He was 76 years old. His 72-year-old wife Sharon Osbourne and his family released a joint statement about the news.
Ozzy performed his final farewell concert on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, according to the news. He took to the stage at the stadium that evening as part of the packed Back to the Beginning concert with his former bandmates.
He appeared at Comic Con Midlands a week later, where he had previously gathered with fans. Pip Marsh, a singer, posed for a photo with “the Prince of Darkness” during a meet and greet at the NEC in the city, and Ozzy was one of those who met him there.
Pip, who was at the convention with a friend to meet his idol, described the news of Ozzy’s passing as “numb.” “I just saw the news, I’m devastated,” Pip declared.
He continued, “I’m numb, it doesn’t feel real.” He continued, “I’m gutted. Ozzy and I have a strange relationship, and we both live close to where I was raised. It’s crazy that I saw one of my first major performances live on Sabbath. I’m numb right now.
In a statement released tonight, Ozzy’s wife Sharon and his four children, Louis, Aimee, Jack, and Kelly, announced his passing. Our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning, according to the statement, “with more sadness than words can convey.”
He was surrounded by love and with his family, the family continued. At this time, we ask that everyone respects our family’s privacy. “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.
At the sold-out Back to the Beginning concert earlier this month, Ozzy gave what had already been referred to as his “final performance.” Ozzy and his former bandmates, Geezer Butler, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, who were the original Black Sabbath members, reconnected at the event.
While performing on the stadium stage, he addressed the crowd and expressed their support. Ozzy, who has suffered from health issues over the years, once said, “I don’t know what to say, man, I’ve been laid up for like six years. Thank you so much, I know, and appreciate it so much.
It was made public last week that it would be made available as a concert film the following year following the performance. Highlights from the show and behind-the-scenes footage are expected to appear in Ozzy’s Final Bow, Back to the Beginning.
