A strange occurrence in football is the palpable excitement sparked by the calendar’s inclusion of numerous dates.
This Friday morning in Scotland, fully grown adults will behave like children. booking trains, checking hotel reservations, and doing a military-grade Google map scan of every bar that runs from a train station to a stadium.
The 3 p.m. on a Saturday night died
There are three of them in the Scottish Premiership opening day of this year, which is an odd coincidence.
On Saturday, Kilmarnock host Livingston and Motherwell take on Russell Martin’s Rangers in two games.
Then, on Sunday, three more games will follow, including Celtic’s clash with St Mirren, while Hearts and Aberdeen will play on Monday to bring the whole thing to a close.
Curiously, Kilmarnock v. Livingston actually kicks off at 15:00 BST on Saturday, with only one game remaining. Traditionalists will burn their match shows and throw their Bovril out the window as a result.

What year did Old Firm release its first game?
Yes, yes, the Premiership has three city derbies. There is no bias toward the west here.
However, the chant will be particularly loud during Celtic and Rangers’ first home game of the season. Given the division between the two clubs last season, there will be plenty of anticipation for the Ibrox side to see how their respective teams fare against Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.
Both teams will both have already qualified for European competition, giving this one an advantage.
The first Old Firm meeting will be held on August 31 with a noon kick-off for Rangers, who collected seven points in derbies last term and still came in miles behind.
The Dundee Derby takes place when? Dens Park is where it was the day before. By then, will United still be present in Europe? Will Steven Pressley, a former rival in his playing days, have a flying flier with the blue half of the city?
Then, before the Edinburgh derby takes center stage, you have to wait until the first weekend in October.

The Premiership fixtures: will they change?
You can bet on it, Killie Pie fans.
To date, only a select number of television fixtures have been made. Basically, the festive Edinburgh derby, the first Old Firm game, and the opening two weekends.
Beyond that, the calendar is currently unsettlingly straightforward. However, you can’t book your Dundee hostel.
While European football has the potential to cause chaos, many games will still be shifted for television.
Both Celtic and Aberdeen are guaranteed group stage football, with the latter almost certainly moving a lot of games on Sunday.
Which team’s Premiership debut is the most challenging?
Regardless of who you ask, “My team,” the answer will remain the same.
Every player’s favorite team has been dealt a bad hand, just like football fans, who are not known for their impartiality or rational thinking.
Have they, or not?
The opening four games feature Celitc, Rangers, and an away trip to Easter Road, and it appears that St Mirren, who have them as their friends at Opta, have had it the hardest.
Next up is Dundee, where Rangers, Hibs, Kilmarnock, and a derby are played on a plastic pitch. Then Martin’s Ibrox side is opened by Motherwell.
The SPFL supercomputer, which is said to have been built in Edinburgh, is said to have had the softest beginnings with both capital clubs.

What Premiership games are planned this year?
Scottish football has played games on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, Hogmanay, and even New Year’s Day.
The over-the-top Motherwell fans who watched their team lose to Hamilton Academical on January 1st, 2015, still have their thoughts.
However, the calendar has changed this year to reflect any significant holidays.
The Edinburgh derby kicks off on December 27 at 12:30 GMT, with a full card being chosen for that day.
The Dundee and Glasgow derbies, which kick off the new year with a blockbuster start, will give us six games on Tuesday, December 30.
