Olivia Bowen, the star of Love Island, claims she is “soaking in” her pregnancy because she knows she won’t be doing it again after tragically losing one of the twins she was carrying.
Olivia Bowen is cherishing every precious kick of her pregnancy – not least because, as she tells us, “this is my last baby.” The 30-year-old Love Island star turned businesswoman is preparing to welcome a daughter this summer with husband Alex Bowen, 32. But it hasn’t been the smoothest journey.
Earlier in her pregnancy, Olivia heartbreakingly revealed the loss of one of the twins she was carrying. Olivia was thrilled to find out they were expecting twins just before Christmas.
Olivia sadly struggles postnatally after a traumatic and long birth that saw her needing to have an episiotomy. She revealed they were in no rush to have another child but in November, they decided they were ready to try again while on holiday in Dubai. Just three weeks later, Olivia found out she was pregnant.

They decided to book an early scan at six weeks, where they discovered they were expecting twins. The doctor told the couple one baby was “slightly bigger” but that it was “normal and they look good”. Olivia admitted she never considered she could have twins and was “totally flabbergasted” by the news.
They couldn’t contain their excitement and told their family and friends on Christmas Eve that they were expecting to soon become a family of five. Two weeks later, Olivia and Alex went for another scan to check the smaller baby was growing. However, they were blindsided by devastating news that they had lost one.
“It was obviously, as you can imagine, we felt blindsided,” she says. “I first of all, didn’t expect to have twins and then I really didn’t expect to lose one. It’s weird because I was so worried and so anxious about having twins because we don’t have the best success rate of twins in our family history.”
“So, I was already very anxious, and then, all of my fears just started to come true.” Simply put, it was very difficult to navigate.
Despite the anxiety that comes with it, she is embracing every moment now that she is in her third trimester and expecting just one baby girl. She says, “Every day seemed like it was touch and go, even though it probably wasn’t,” in a statement made exclusively for the Redwings campaign. I should have been fine. I just worried that I would lose her for a good few months.
She says, “I’m trying to soak it all in because I know I won’t do this again.” Like, I’ve lost that aspect of my life.
Abel, a two-year-old who they welcomed in 2022, is already a spirited toddler who has picked up a few choice words from her mother, and the couple, who wed in 2018, already met on Love Island two years earlier. Olivia laughs when I called him a “sucker” the other day while we were playing. He now addresses it to everyone. Although it is my fault, at least there isn’t an F in front of it”!
When she’s not juggling pregnancy and toddler chaos, Olivia is indulging her lifelong love of horses – and is currently named an official Ambassador for Redwings Horse Sanctuary. It’s a full-circle moment for the star, who first visited Redwings as a “pony-obsessed little girl” and now brings her own young family to their centre near her home in Essex.
“Everyone is aware that I’m a horse person.” Alex is learning, and Angel is just beginning to ride! There is a pony named Angel, like a rescue pony there. So we go to visit them and enjoy their birthday celebration.
Olivia is preserving the truth, one sucker at a time, whether it’s motherhood, mental health, or the existence of mini-sausage.
